The IPSC World Shoot came to an end last Saturday. Although most of the Brazilian athletes in Rhodes, Greece, were disappointed with the results of the championship, at least one of them had reasons to smile. Lucimar Domingues stood on top of the podium, first-time champion of the Standard Senior division.

In 2008, Lucimar had already been team champion in the Standard, finishing the World Shoot in second place in the individual competition. This time, the dream of being individual champion came true. Before leaving for Greece, Lucimar was already confident of the title:

- I want to be world champion (individual) for Brazil for the first time, and twice-champion for the Brazilian Standard Senior squad – was his answer on the Guga Ribas Company website, to the question asked about his expectations for the World Shoot.

No medals for the teams. But the Standard Senior Brazilians had an excellent second place just behind the Italians. Not only Lucimar Domingues, but Carlos Eduardo Sette, Jaime Roberto Saldanha and Mauro Thompson Ferreira also came home with a World Shoot silver medal.

Who did well in the World Shoot was Josias Lucena, vice-champion of the Open division of the Super Seniors. Lucena was only 1.18% points behind the winner, Canadian Michael Auger.

João Carlos Stevenson finished the Open Junior division in fourth place, the same position as Caroline Faci, in Standard Lady, and Antonio José Vaghi who competed in the Standard Super Senior. Victor Dalmeida Arruda and Gabriel Garcia Mariano Barbosa came in third and fourth, respectively, in the Standard Junior division.

Guga Ribas, who was neck and neck for first place in the Modified division, failed to achieve a good result in the stages on the last day and finished sixth in the World Shoot. The champion was the Czech shooter Zdenek Henes. Brazilians Ildeu Heller and Leandro Boaventura were placed 13th and 23rd, respectively.

Another Brazilian with hopes of a good performance in the championship was Jaime Saldanha Junior, in the Standard division. Unfortunately, Jaime had problems when leaving for Greece and was unable to take his own ammunition to the World Shoot. The outcome was that he had a tough time throughout the match, dissatisfied with the official competition ammo. He finished tenth in the division won by Blake Miguez from the USA.
