The IPSC Sudeste Shoot on September 3 and 4 was held in a special atmosphere, especially for the athletes who will be competing in a few days’ time for the World Shoot in Greece. Many of them went to Vitoria, in the State of Espírito Santo, to compete in the last regional match before leaving for that major challenge.

The event’s organization fulfilled the athletes’ expectations by providing stages that required high technical level and the main IPSC fundamentals. José Luiz Medeiros, president of the Espírito Santo Practical Shooting Federation, said that the event’s success was the result of a year’s work and sponsor investment, for example, Guga Ribas Company. And the Shoot was clearly focused on meeting every athlete’s requirements.

- During the planning stage, we realized how close the World Shoot was to the date of our event. That is why we took special care and were inspired by the examples of international competitions in order to give more conditions for the athletes to train all the fundamentals and have a good idea of what is ahead of them – Medeiros explains.

Guga Ribas, overall winner for the Modified, praised the entire organization, the club’s infrastructure and the stages. The shooter said that it was the most technical shoot this year in Brazil and stressed that the main focus of the championship was for the athletes to be mentally and technically fit.

- It was a match that required good strategies and mental control for the shooter to put into practice his technical skills – says Guga.

Ildeu Heller came in second, also in the Modified division, with excellent points and Abrahão Felippe, in third. Allison Vericio was also outstanding and was top of the Production podium. The athlete, who was first to be sponsored by Guga Ribas Company, surpassed his main adversaries and partners in the Brazilian World Shoot squad – Luis Henrique Ishihara and Vagner Brum –, who came in second and third, respectively.

- It was a good match where once again I could exercise my mental control. As always, my adversaries – and good friends – shot very well but I still managed to beat them. Another factor that was decisive was the quality of my equipment (Tanfoglio Stock II pistol and Guga Ribas Company holster), which, curiously enough, I was using for the very first time in a national competition – Allison said delightedly.

Allison and Ildeu participated in the coaching by Guga Ribas this July. Since then, Guga has been accompanying their results and was happy to say that he’s proud to have participated in part of their training.

- Ildeu and Allison are ready for the World Shoot. They have made great progress and their training had clear focus. My congratulations to them on this excellent match – concludes Guga Ribas.

Jaime Saldanha Junior competed in yet another important competition for his debut in the Brazilian Standard squad in the World Shoot. Jaime was first placed, sharing the podium with another two top athletes in the division – Nilton Fior and Cesar Castro. The latter had not competed in a regional match since the beginning of the year and even so maintained a steady rhythm and was runner-up in the Standard’s tough dispute.

Even after a fall at one of the stages with ground covered in rough stones, Wagner Almeida showed that he’s in his best phase and came in first in the Revolver division well ahead of his adversaries, Julio Cesar and Marcos Flavio. In the Open division, João Carlos Stevenson was first, followed by Horacio Cariello in second and Demetrius third placed.

At the close of the championship, the athletes participated in a table of prizes provided by the event’s sponsors. Guga Ribas Company contributed with backpacks, holster, charger holders and flasks.
